TAMARACK
HABILITATION TECHNOLOGIES, INC. OFFERS NEW PERFORMANCE PATCHES THAT REDUCE
FRICTION
Minneapolis
- June 2004 - Tamarack Habilitation Technologies Inc., a design
and development firm of orthotic and prosthetic componentry, recently made
available a revolutionary new way to reduce friction, prevent painful blisters
and decrease blister healing time so now you can go farther than you've
ever gone before. Called ENGO Performance Patches, each patch is applied
directly to the source of friction - the footwear or athletic equipment.
Patches are manufactured using ShearBan® patented technology comprised
of a specially-formulated low-friction film. This slippery blue top-layer
virtually eliminates friction between the footwear or equipment and skin.
When incorporated in
footwear or on equipment, volume is unaltered. The adhesive creates a
strong bond, eliminating migration. And don't worry about sweating - it
was developed with sweat in mind. ENGO patches are easy to apply and use.
Patches are latex-free and come in three sizes: regular ovals, large ovals
& sheets. Trimming to tailor-fit is an option. The slippery blue top
layer uses a SmartPatch concept whereby color change from blue to
white indicates the need for patch replacement. Each patch is extremely
durable, lasting anywhere from several weeks to several months.
When used for hotspots,
ENGO has been proven to prevent blister formation. According to Jeff Chambers,
head Certified ATC for Minnesota State University, Mankato, "Student-athletes
reporting hotspots during practice received an ENGO patch in the area
of their shoe causing friction. We simply asked them to remove their shoe
and 45 seconds later they were back on the practice field. Amazingly,
our student-athletes reported immediate relief. The best thing? Blisters
never formed where ENGO was placed."
When used to help treat
a blister, healing time has been shown to be significantly reduced. Users
agree that ENGO Performance Patches save blisters, performance,
time and money. "Blisters are a huge problem with most of our teams
during pre-season," stated Jeff Chambers. "Using ENGO this past
year has not only saved us a tremendous amount of time, but has also eliminated
the need to utilize materials normally used to protect and care for blisters.
This is the best product I have seen and used to prevent blisters and
manage calluses in my 20+ years as a Certified Athletic Trainer."
