Introduction

The CPR Microshield was designed to meet two critical specifications: protect the rescuer and allow the rescuer to perform proper CPR according to the established guidelines and procedures.

Product Overview and Description
The disposable, affordable, CPR Microshield provides a physical barrier complete with a one-way valve offering protection from cross-contamination. The patented one-way valve and single piece design assures the rescuer that the barrier will not leak, or ever fall apart during CPR. Every CPR Microshield produced is 100% inspected and 100% tested for leaks. When giving CPR while using the Microshield, you can perform this procedure exactly as you learned it in CPR class. It requires no change in CPR technique. Many devices require deviation from established procedures with complicated hand seal methods instead of the established mouth-to-mouth seal. At the heart of the CPR Microshield is a patented valve that is always closed until the rescuer exhales. The valve opens to provide a low resistance airway and closes immediately when the rescuer finishes each breath.

Product Use and Procedure

1. Insert CPR Microshield ventilation tube into the victim's mouth.
2. Place the ventilation tube, over tongue, deep enough in victim's mouth to ensure barrier is flush with victim's lips and face.
3. Obtain an open airway with the recommended head-tilt/chin-lift method.
4. Place fingers under shield portion of the CPR Microshield and pinch victim's nasal passages closed.
5. Rescuer's mouth must be open sufficiently to completely cover victim's mouth while applying firm mouth pressure over ventilation tube to achieve proper seal.
6. Proceed with CPR ventilation using approved technique.

Features and Benefits

Features of the CPR Microshield
CPR Compatible- This is the most important benefit received when using the CPR Microshield. Designed to complement, not complicate, the specific techniques known as "CPR".
True Mouth-to-Mouth seal is achieved. The Microshield sealing method is identical to the method taught in CPR classes, thus avoiding complicated hand seal methods, which pull the rescuer from the important learned techniques. This also allows the rescuer to perform an effective head-tilt/chin-lift maneuver.
Airway Enhancement. The bite block/airway tunnel inserted into the patient's mouth assists the rescuer in maintaining an open airway when performing the head-tilt/chin-lift maneuver.
The Clear Barrier allows the rescuer to observe signs of obstructions, fluids present, and lip color while performing CPR.
Single Piece Design. Although the CPR Microshield consists of several component parts, they are all sealed together to provide a product without "leaks" where the bite block and the barrier meet.
The CPR Microshield comes available with different types of packaging, and accessories you can add to meet your needs.
