Introduction
Welch Allyn has taken the concept of vital signs diagnostics and streamlined
the technology to introduce a fully automated, multi-use instrument at a
practical price. The Welch Allyn Spot Vital Signs
Monitor does a non-invasive blood pressure (NIBP) test using
the oscillometric method; takes pulse rate and mean arterial pressure; takes
oral, rectal and axillary temperatures using the Sure Temp Thermometer;
and tests Pulse Oximetry, SpO2 all within approximately 30 seconds. It is
lightweight with a convenient built-in handle. It is easy to learn and simple
to use. The automated Spot Vital Signs Monitor gives you more time to spend
on patient care.

Product
Use and Procedure
Welch Allyn's Spot
Vital Signs device delivers vital signs in seconds. The basic unit offers
noninvasive blood pressure, pulse rate and mean arterial pressure (MAP).
Spot Vital Signs additional parameters include SureTemp thermometry
and/or Nellcor® Pulse Oximetry. An optional external printer is available
for record keeping purposes. The following list shows the basic operation
and readings on a SPOT unit.
On/Off Button-
controls power to the device.
Print Button- Pressing
this button initiates print operation.
Mode Button- Pressing
this button down for 2 seconds turns backlight off/on. With temperature
probe removed from holder, pressing this button switches thermometer from
oral to auxiliary. To bring the Spot Vital Signs out of standby/sleep mode,
press this button.
Next Patient/Clear Button- Clears
all data from the device. Always press clear before taking vitals on a new
patient.
Blood Pressure Operation- To
take blood pressure measurement, press BP Start/Stop. Button. Press this
button again if you need to stop the blood pressure measurement.
Temperature Operation- Make
sure the appropriate temperature probe is connected to the device (Blue
= Oral/Axillary, Red = Rectal), remove probe from holder and apply a new
probe cover, properly place probe in mouth as directed in operator manual.
When done a single beep will be heard and temperature is displayed, eject
probe cover and return probe to holder.
SpO2 Operation- Apply
sensor to patient and insure adequate signal from pulse signal bar graph.
SpO2 measurement and pulse rate will update continuously for 10 minutes.
